Despite several lockdowns in Pakistan in 2021, the various training activities of the Diwa Foundation could continue. Lessons were organised in small groups.
In addition, we have helped some families to get through these difficult corona times. Diwa Foundation Pakistan has also helped to inform the local population about the usefulness of vaccination. The building of the Diwa Foundation has been used as a vaccination post by the local government.
Pakistan is suffering from a third corona wave. The biggest threat is the Indian corona variant. This time the government of Pakistan did partially lock down the areas where corona cases are registered at high rates.
With this newsletter we want to keep you informed about our activities in Pakistan. Also we want to share the personal story of one of our Diwa members in Pakistan.
Last weekend — Palm Sunday — we have distributed 67 food packets to needy families in Francisabad. The packaging and distribution was a lot of work, but our Diwa team and the youth from Kings Way Church worked very hard to fulfill this mission.
The corona virus crisis has affected every county worldwide. The government of Pakistan has also locked down the whole country to prevent the virus from spreading. For two weeks people are staying home. The schools, offices, businesses, daily basis work is closed. Only grocery shops and medical stores are open to help people buy the food and medicine.
Two-thirds of Pakistan’s population is poor. Most of them work on daily wages as a labour, hawker, house maid and cleaner. Their daily earning enables them to feed their families and fulfil other necessities.
